Fitness First

Deaf Active are currently supported by Liverpool NHS Primary Care Trust in delivery a healthy living agenda which will enable participants to get involved a lot more and be more aware of how healthy living and a healthy life style can promote positive health.
Participants will have a greater awareness and undersanding of nutrition  and positive balanced diet and how this can ensure they have the building blocks in place to become a lot more active.
Children and Young people at Deaf Active made the choice to place a series of funding applications to secure their healthy futures and success was awareded by Employable Communities, Liverpool Youth Opportunity Fund and Knowsley's Big Deal.

The funding secured a fully functional fitness suite and a tremendous amount of support and accredited trainging from Executive Fitness Careers.

Deaf young people decided that they wanted to make the project more inclusive and therefore interviewed and selected 12 hearing peers from high schools such as Broadgreen International School and Holly Lodge Girls School to participate in the Fitness First Project.

This project is ran by our youth leader Paul Cain, however the programme is youth led so the children and young people choose the activities they want to do.
